Like all good independent optometrists, we do thin lenses, contact lenses, retinal photography, etc, etc….. but as local Canberran’s who have great pride in our city and are genuinely interested in the issues of the day and the Canberra community as a whole, we like to take the time to listen to our customers whether that be in relation to their eye health, eyewear, contact lenses or even if they just want to chat about subjects ranging from politics to sport or anything in between, we’ll always find time.

Our Story

Back in the early 1990’s, three young graduates decided to take on the big boys and open an independent practice in Belconnen, ACT.

Many of our loyal customers might remember this practice as Pino and Sun Eyecare. The practice quickly built up an excellent reputation and became popular as the market at the time was dominated by chain stores and the quality, knowledge and service at these places left a lot to be desired.

Fast forward three decades and several name changes and Sun and Partners Eyecare continue that tradition of personable, excellent service combined with quality products and experienced, skilled and knowledgeable local staff.

We pride ourselves in values that our competitors cannot replicate and all our staff possess skills that simply cannot be taught overnight. How to listen, communicate, connect and care for people and how to create a great family company culture.

Even now three decades later, our core philosophies remain the same.

The People

With Robert Sun and Jeff Li, you will not only meet two excellent optometrists who will ensure that you receive a thorough eye examination, explain their findings and your results in detail and plain English and won’t prescribe glasses if you don’t need them, but you will also meet two of the friendliest people in the health care field who will genuinely listen to your questions and concerns and act on them.

We are delighted to have Michael Tran join our team of optometrists in 2023. As a Canberra born local, Michael loves engaging with the community in both professional and personal aspects in his life and you’ll find him approachable, knowledgable and invested in bringing you the best outcomes at your next eye test.

Peter, Connie, Walter, Alex, Christina and Karen are our team of experienced and qualified optical dispensers. Always approachable. Always keen to have a chat. Nothing is too much trouble and no question is too trivial because we know that optics can be a confusing and daunting process. Our staff will help find you a spectacular, well fitting comfortable pair of glasses that you actually enjoy wearing and team them up with a great set of lenses that you can see clearly through.

We also have two experienced technicians in our onsite laboratory. With our new lens edging machines, you can be sure you will receive the highest quality pair of spectacles possible. Almost all spectacles are made to order onsite. This means that we have complete control over the quality of the product we sell to you. Remember, if you’re not satisfied…. We’re not satisfied !!
